A new purchase

Hello hello everyone!!

Today I’m here to show you my new purchase (which I finally bought last week!): the book “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” by Truman Capote! Yeah, that one which inspired the namesake movie (1961) starred by Audrey Hepburn! ❤

This book was first published in 1958 and the volume which I bought is a “50th Anniversary Edition” published in 2008 which also includes three other Capote’s stories: “House of Flowers”, “A Diamond Guitar” and “A Christmas Memory” (that I’m curious to read too!).

Now, I only have to set it in a row of the other books I need to read and also take time!! Then, when I can read this book I tell you a little more about it. See you soon!

P.S.: Do you also have a wishlist of books? Tell me about it! 🙂

Tips of books

Hello darling!!

Tonight I’ll give you a simple tip of two books which I’m using in my monograph to conclude the graduation course in the university and I’ve already used one of them here, in the first posts…

And why I will talk about them? Because they are about classic cinema, of course!

The first one is about the movie “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”, its adaptation from novel to cinema, the movie backstages, some stories and a lot of interesting things about the movie. The book also talks about Audrey Hepburn’s career beginning until she starred this film as Holly Golightly. Another interesting theme in this book is how women were represented in the 50’s and 60’s in American cinema. Give a look in a photo of the book (in Brazilian version) and in some pictures which are inside it. All the informations about the book are after the photos (in the original version, in English).

Some pictures in the book

  • Original title: Fifth Avenue, 5 A.M. – Audrey Hepburn, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, and the dawn of the modern woman
  • Author: Sam Wasson
  • Year of publication: 2010
  • Publishing house: Harper

The second tip of book is a Marilyn Monroe’s biography. And I’m indicating this book because you should know that some of her biographies are quite sensationalists. But, reading this one (that a big fan of her, indicated to me), you can see all the stories and legends about this cultural icon treated in a way more serious and credible. Besides, you can realize how the big movie stars were built by Hollywood. Like the another book, the photos are in the Brazilian version of the book and the informations are after.

To start this new category here in the blog, let’s see again this beautiful scene of Holly Golightly singing “Moon River” in her window. Enjoy! ❤

Just Sharing A Magic Moment

Hi dears!!

Today I want to share with all of you a pretty magic moment that I lived yesterday…

Well, first I have to say that in the cinemas here in Brazil aren’t exhibited classic movies (at least in the place where I live). 😦 I don’t know about the cinemas in USA and other countries…

Then, for my surprise and happiness, what is happening since last month?? The Cinemark decided show some classic movies during 02 months (June and July)!! 😀 Unfortunately, there isn’t any movie of 40’s or 50’s decade (the most are of 80’s…), buuuuuut they decided to exhibit one of my favorites among all the movies in the world: Breakfast at Tiffany’s (1961), starring, of course, by the fabulous Audrey Hepburn! *-*

There were 03 sessions in 03 different days in the entire Brazil and, all this story which I’m writing, is just to say that yesterday I went to watch the last one and this moment was very magic and unbelievable for me because I never imagined that someday I could see Audrey in the movie screen!! Give a look on the ticket (yeah, I took a photo!!):

So, enjoying this moment, I’ll remember you now some parts of this movie because I’m feeling myself like in the first time that I watched some years ago…

– First of all, let’s see the classic opening scene of the movie, when Holly leaves the cab to take her breakfast at Tiffany’s! In this scene we can listen the theme song by the first time: Moon River…

– The first moment when Cat appears (this scene has a beautiful photography, like the whole movie!):

– When Holly met her new neighbor: Paul Varjak (George Peppard):

– The first visit to Sing Sing, occasion where Holly wears a big and fabulous hat (during the movie, she wears others) and her unforgettable sunglasses!

– The adorable party, where E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G can happen!!

– One of the most beautiful scenes when Holly sings the song theme Moon River – by Henry Mancini and Johnny Mercer. It was incredible see and listen this scene in the cinema! 😀

– The scenes when Holly and Paul go out to do “things they never did“. And the part when Holly finally enters at Tiffany & Co

– The cute moment when Holly is knitting, listening a Portuguese audio, cooking… Then, suddenly, she talks a phrase in Portuguese: “Eu acho que você está gostando do açougueiro!” 😀

– Aaaaaaaand, of course, the final scene: “Cat? Where are you Cat?”
